Exterior of Modern Suburban House

Architectural Design

All new homes are as individual as their owners. It’s for this reason that at George Laurel & Partners we believe that the design of your new home should reflect this.

You will find all of us approachable and easy to get on with; we are here to help and advise you and most of all to listen to what you want. Let us make your involvement with the property industry an enjoyable one – because with the right people on your team, it doesn’t have to be stressful.

George Laurel & Partners has developed a unique service for clients wishing to build a new home. We take great pride with all our design work and our architectural plans are produced to a very high standard. All our fees are based on a unique ‘menu system’ of sequential stages and are fixed at the start of the project.

Whites Path | Willingham

A scruffy patch of land containing weeds, small trees and a dilapidated house may not have seemed very appealing, but when YDP’s managing director, Paul Ashley, saw it in 2013 he recognised its potential. The site was at 3 Whites Path, Willingham, Cambridgeshire and contained enough space to build three detached homes. Furthermore, there were good transport links to the Cambridge Science Park and into the heart of Cambridge itself.

The project presented all kinds of challenges, including the acquisition of further parcels of land to provide access across the stream that surrounded the site and obtaining planning permission despite the objections of the Highways Agency. But solutions to all problems were finally found construction began in late 2015.

Over the next 20 months, groundworks were laid, bridges built and three adventurously designed, eco-friendly, timber-framed houses built and finished to the high standard that YDP insists on for all it construction. The houses were snapped up shortly after they went on sale in late 2017.

Oakwood Road | Wimbledon

For this creative project, YDP bought the last house in a row of 1960s terraced townhouses. The house had substantial gardens to the side which accommodated the building of two new houses on the end of the terrace.

The original house was stripped back to a shell, extended and totally refurbished such that it was, save for the original walls, a new build. The two new five-bedroom houses were then built to the same design. Finally, the owners of the other three house in the terrace were persuaded to refinish the fronts of their houses to reflect the standard and appearance of the three 'new' YDP houses. The result was an elegant, simple terrace of six beautiful townhouses.

YDP worked closely with George Laurel and Partners on the design, planning and construction of the houses. Both firms share a passion for eco-friendly construction and the properties were designed and built to Code 3 of the Sustainable Design Guide.

The houses were finished to the highest standards throughout, with under-floor heating, solid wood floors and state of the art audio-visual systems.
